- FRENCH 1001French Lang & Cult IStudents will develop communicative skills in French, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Introduction to Francophone culture through discussion of readings and visual media. Intended for students with no previous French experience. Students with previous French experience are expected to contact the department for placement advising.
- FRENCH 1002French Lang & Culture IIPrerequisite: FRENCH 1001 or equivalent. In this course, students will continue to develop communicative skills in French, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It involves continued exploration of Francophone culture through discussion of readings and visual media.
- FRENCH 2101French Lang & Culture IIIPrerequisites: FRENCH 1001 and FRENCH 1002 or the equivalent. In this course, students will further develop the four language skills through meaningful communicative interaction. Students will advance their understanding of Francophone culture through discussion of readings and visual media. Students who have successfully completed this course may advance to FRENCH 2170 and FRENCH 2180.
- FRENCH 2170Int French Lang & CulturePrerequisites: FRENCH 2101 or equivalent. This course will help students advance in their development of the four language skills through meaningful communicative interaction. Students will further advance their understanding of Francophone culture. This course may be taken concurrently with FRENCH 2180.
- FRENCH 3205French for Professional CommPrerequisites: FRENCH 2170 and FRENCH 2180, or consent of the instructor. This course teaches practical applications of French for professional communication, including conventions of correspondence, business etiquette, and travel.
- FRENCH 3311Intro Topics in French CulturePrerequisites: FRENCH 2170 and FRENCH 2180. Selected topics in French or francophone culture taught in French. This course may be repeated once for credit provided that the topic is different.
- FRENCH 4311Spec Top French Culture & LitPrerequisites: Three French courses at the 3000 level or above. Selected topics in French/Francophone culture and literature. This course may be repeated for credit provided the topic is different each time.
