- EAP 1012Lng Sklls for Acad SuccessPrerequisites: Placement by examination. This course is designed for the student who is a non-native speaker of English to enhance academic language skills needed for the American university. This course includes readings and lectures from various disciplines, strategies for effective listening comprehension and note-taking, vocabulary building exercises, exam preparation, and participation in class discussions. This course may count towards elective credit in the Colleges of Business and Arts and Sciences.
- EAP 1013Rdng & Wrtng IIPrerequisites: Placement by examination. This course prepares students for ENGL 1100 or ENGL 1110. Course activities targeting writing skills may include the organization of essays, rhetorical forms and their structural organization, revision of ideas, research techniques, grammar use, and editing. To develop reading skills, students read literary and non-literary texts, practice reading strategies and learn how to summarize articles. This course may count towards elective credit in the Colleges of Business and Arts and Sciences.
- EAP 1015Lang Expression and AccuracyPrerequisites: Placement by examination. This course is for students who are non-native speakers of English who need review and applied practice of English grammar for oral and written work. This course may count towards elective credit in the Colleges of Business and Arts and Sciences.
- EAP 5400Seminar for International TAsPrerequisites: Consent of the department. The course is required for international graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) from outside of English-speaking countries who will teach alone in the classroom. It focuses on cultural differences in education, presentation skills, and strategies to facilitate communication. Students will develop effective teaching skills through class presentations. This course counts as credit towards visa requirements and is not applicable to the graduate degree program.
